- <p> Members of an elite South Carolina country club thought the
- crest seemed familiar. So closely did a Ralph Lauren emblem,
- right, resemble the golfers' heraldic device, left, that the
- club sued for trademark infringement. Last week a judge forbade
- Polo/Ralph Lauren to use the logo and required payment of
- $100,000 in legal fees and $250,000 to Pine Lakes International.
- Now the mighty are crestfallen.
